Résumé du livre
The objective of this study was to examine the land use and management modules of selected soil degradation models, construct an inventory of the land use requirements of those models, and subsequently determine the structure, content, and data sources for a regional land use database. The land use data requirements were assessed for five models, of both equation- and process-based types. The inventory identified over 200 different variables; this list was then summarized into 118 common variables in nine general categories such as crop-related parameters, drainage, irrigation, plant management, and support practices. This summarized list of requirements essentially forms the contents and structure of the database. The study then identifies and characterizes sources of regional information for the land use variables and makes recommendations regarding a standard regional land use database.
