Résumé du livre
The purpose of this survey and follow-up case-control study was to assess the prevalence of minimal hearing loss in third-, sixth-, ninth-, and twelfth-grade children and to determine whether children with minimal hearing loss experienced any psychoeducational or functional complications. Children were evaluated for hearing threshold levels and type of hearing loss, as well as middle ear function and associated abnormalities. Data include results from acoustic otoscope, diagnostic immittance, and GSI-37 auto tymp tests. Case-control assessments include comprehensive tests of basic skills scores (reading--vocabulary and comprehension, language--mechanics and expression, math, spelling, and science), and behavior problems reported by the teacher. Other variables cover age and grade in school. Parts 1-12 contain survey data that are consolidated, with additional recodes, in Parts 13 and 14. Parts 15 and 16 contain the case-control data.
